Man hacks brother to death over property dispute in Kozhikode

KOZHIKODE: A heated argument over property took a tragic turn when a man was hacked to death by his elder brother. Prasad (50) of Valiyaparamba Thannirikkampoyil at Koduvally in Kozhikode was hacked to death Saturday night at 10.30 pm. The police have taken his elder brother Pramod (54) into custody. Police said that a verbal dispute over property while consuming alcohol ended in the murder. More investigation is being conducted.

Prasad is a daily wage labourer and Pramod, a carpenter. There was a dispute between the two for quite some time. The two residing in the same house had earlier approached the court over property issue, but the disputes were not solved. There are four children in this family. Of the four, three sons are unmarried. Their sister is staying in Koduvally’s Karuvanpoyil and another brother in Narikkuni Athani. Their mother had died 15 years ago and father five years back. Property dispute between the two intensified after that.
